Week 16 – July 23        Small Corner triangle frame blocks 

                        

You have completed the most challenging part of this quilt; woohoo!   Now let’s get your backgrounds organized. We used six different backgrounds in our quilt. 

                                                  

If you had been keeping your scrap pieces, you might already have several pieces the size you need for the different framed border layouts.    It might be good to sort your blocks with the same background and put them with your background fabric.    

    

       

                       

   Here is a sample of several blocks grouped together. 

 

Now find the small blocks that need the small corner triangle frame-blocks.

They are:     Album Block, Churn Dash, Fool’s Puzzle, Capital T, Hidden Star, Pinwheel Geese

 

Pull the backgrounds you need for these blocks; refer to your book for cutting and piecing directions. 

This is a great place to use the leftover small square to make the HST or use triangle paper; you will need 1” finished. 

   

 

For the strips around the block, you might want to oversize them a bit; It’s always easier to trim down a block than add to it.  All framed blocks should measure 8-3/4” per the pattern.  

 

Tip:  I increased the sizes by ¼” to ½” wider to trim the block down to the size I wanted, 9” at this point. 

 

Have fun this week revisiting your block and framing them up with tiny HST; come back next week for more fun.
