Hi!  My name is Trish and you can find me most days on INSTAGRAM.  I am so happy to be here today, sharing an easy and fun quilt pattern using April Rosenthal's gorgeous line, Summerfest.  Summerfest is such happy and charming fabric and was such a joy to sew with!!

opened

open your yummy fat eight bundle and give each fabric a good press

(I like a little starch as well, for a crisp cut.)

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS :

Bella Solids Snow - cut 10 - 2 1/2" x width of fabric strips,

subcut each strip into 16 - 2 1/2" squares - you'll need 160

fat eighths

from each of the 31 fat eighths cut 1 - 6 1/2" square and 5 - 2 1/2" squares

***NOTE***

You could actually use a layer cake for this pattern, however, I opted not to, because there is little to no wiggle room in the cutting.  I would much rather have a little extra fabric, than not enough.

binding

binding

cut  6 - 2 1/2" x width of fabric strips (find Moda Bake Shop binding tutorial : here)

PIECING INSTRUCTIONS using 1/4" seam allowance :

ninepatch1

layout each 9 patch block as seen above

next sew top row, middle row, and bottom row

nested

press top row to the left, middle row to the right, and bottom row to the left

direction

this insures that seams will nest when sewing the rows together

block measures 6 1/2" make 32

blockssewingtogether

sew 27 pairs of blocks together as seen above

then sew 3 pairs together (6 1/2" block to nine patch, 6 1/2" block to nine patch, 6 1/2" block to nine patch)

you will now have 9 rows of 6 blocks at this point

lay out the rows and flip each row as needed so that the nine patches and 6 1/2" squares oppose one another press each row in opposite directions

pressed

nest seams and sew each row together from top to bottom

bindingclip

quilt as desired, bind, and enjoy
