From BACKGROUND Fabric, cut:
(4) 3½” squares
(4) 3⅞” squares
From MEDIUM YELLOW Fabric, cut:
(4) 3⅞” squares
(8) 2” squares
From LIGHT YELLOW Fabric, cut:
(8) 2” squares
From BROWN Fabric, cut:
(8) 2” squares
STEP 1. MAKE HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES
Draw a diagonal line on the background fabric 3⅞” square. Lay these RST with the Medium Yellow Floral 3⅞” square and stitch ¼” on each side of the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line, press toward the yellow and trim to 3½” square. Make 8.
STEP 2. MAKE EASY CORNER TRIANGLES
Draw a diagonal line on each Medium yellow floral 2” square. Lay a 2” square on the bottom right of the HST (Refer to illustration) on the left & on the bottom left of the HST on the right. Stitch on the line, trim to a ¼” seam, press. Trim each to 3½” square.
STEP 3. MAKE CENTER
Using the 8 – 2” X 2” light yellow and 8 – 2” squares brown make (4) 4-patch units, press to the brown, trim to 3½” square. Layout the 4-patches in a 4 X 4 grid, stitch the units together, pressing seams in opposite directions.
STEP 4. ASSEMBLE BLOCK
Lay out block components as shown. Join together. Press well.
